Anywhere from 4-6 months you will start feeding your baby solid food. Solid food means rice cereal, pureed fruits and vegetables, not table food. Many parents ideally want to make their baby food but it can seem daunting because of the time and effort involved. That is where the French company Beaba’s Babycook Food Maker will make baby food making a lot more simple. This machine steam cooks, purees, reheats and defrosts food.
All you have to do is wash, skin and cut the fruit, vegetable or meat into chunks and place it in the steaming basket. Add water and start steaming (the time is based on the food that is in there and the quantity – about 15 minutes). Once the steaming is done, you lift the basket out with the provided spatula, put the food and desired water back into the main chamber and start pureeing to the desired consistency.
The Babycook is a compact and the bowl and basket are dishwasher safe. The product includes the machine, bowl, basket, spatula and menu and recipe booklet.
A big negative of this machine is the cost (it is expensive) but for the convenience of homemade, quick and simple baby food making it may be worth it for busy moms.
In the past there was some controversy whether the Babycook was BPA free and it has been confirmed that any parts that come in contact with food are BPA, PVC and phthalates free.
