First Years Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn-to-Toddler Tub with Sling

The First Years Sure Comfort Deluxe Newborn-to-Toddler Tub with Sling is a tub that is registered for by many parents-t0-be. It is a decent tub with many pros but also quite a few cons:

Pros:

  • Removable (clips on), mesh sling with padded headrest that is made of form-fitting netting
  • Soft, mildew resistant, spongy pad – comfortable and prevents the baby from slipping
  • Compact enough to fit in many kitchen sinks – single and double
  • 2 seating positions for older babies
  • Lightweight
  • Inexpensive
  • Available in blue or pink
Cons:
  • Temperature indicator is not reliable
  • Many parents complain of babies sliding down to the hump when on the infant side.
  • Difficult to clean because of many small crevices.
  • Too small for larger babies or toddlers – stated that it fits babies up to 2 years old but most likely will not be useful that long.
The washable sling cradles your baby therefore giving them the safety and security they need. The sling makes it very easy to give your baby a sponge bath until the umbilical cords falls off.  Once your baby outgrows the sling, you move your baby to the infant side (reclined seat) of the tub and when your baby can sit up they can go to the toddler side. The tub even has a handy built-in caddy to keep the soap and shampoo. Most parents love the tub for the sling but once your baby moves past that phase then they are not a fan of this tub anymore.
The drain plug is supposed to change colors when the water is too hot but as stated above, it is not always accurate so you still have to check the water yourself.
To sum it up – this tub is fantastic for newborns but once the sling is no longer needed (few months) then the reviews get worse for the reclined seat and even worse for the sitting seat because of size. If you have the space and funds to buy this tub for your newborn and then another tub once they get older than this is the one for you!
