Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor

The Motorola Digital Video Baby Monitor is one of the newer video monitors on the market. The features of this monitor supersedes some of the other more expensive and popular video monitors (such as Summer Infant).

  • 450 ft range – one of the longest for a video monitor
  • High sensitivity tracking – monitor turns on when it detects noise or movement but is off when all is quiet to conserve energy
  • 5 LED alerts for audio activity – on parent unit
  • 2.4 GHz hop frequency (FHSS) wireless technology and data encryption technology which encrypts audio data.
  • Infrared night vision – adjustable contrast
  • 2 way communication – talk to your baby through the monitor
  • Plays 5 lullabies
  • Rechargeable battery pack – 4 working hour life for parent unit
  • AA batteries or AC adapter for camera
  • 3.5 or 2.8 inch LCD screen – 3.5 inch screen is one the largest available for a video monitor
  • Uses secure technology to ensure a constant and clear audio and video
  • Camera pans, tilts and zooms so you can always see your baby
  • Temperature monitor
  • Out of range alert
  • Can expand up to 4 cameras in other rooms
  • Alarm – set at 2, 4 or 6 hours
  • Option to view video through TV
  • Camera also has function to take digital pictures
For as great as this monitor is, it does have some negatives considering its steep price. The usable features are limited such as no volume adjustment and no mute button on the parent unit so while the unit is on then every noise is transmitted to the baby’s room (unless it is in power saving mode then audio is off). In addition the camera and receiver are quirky designs – does may allow for easy usability and does not suit everyone.
While this monitor does have some amazing features, it is not necessarily the best video monitor, considering the price.
