Recall of the Safety 1st Cabinet Locks

If you have not all ready heard today, 900,000 Safety 1st Cabinet Locks were recalled today due to 140 reported incidents of children between the ages of 9 months and 5 years old were able to disengage the locks and gain access to the cabinet contents. This is a huge safety issue since the locks are on those cabinets for a reason.

Please see the release by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for a full explanation of the recall.

I had the Safety 1st Cabinet Locks on the cabinets in my master bathroom and my sons managed to open these locks by forcing them open a few years ago, when they were less than 3 years old. My younger one was not even 18 months old and he figured out how to get through the locks, so I agree that these need to be recalled! I will be contacting CPSC to tell them of my personal experience with them (I wish I had done so years ago but I never thought about it).
