Milkmakers Cookies

If you are a nursing (or pregnant) mother who loves cookies (I am and I do) then you may want to try Milkmakers cookies. I was sent 3 packages of 10 cookies each to taste and review. I was hooked after my first cookie!

Milkmakers cookies are lactation cookies which contain natural key ingredients that are traditional remedies known to boost milk production. Each cookie contains oats, brewer’s yeast, and flax seed, which have the nutrients that benefit breastfeeding mothers and as a result their babies.

I had the opportunity to try the oatmeal chocolate chip and the oatmeal raisin dairy free and they were both delicious!  Milkmakers suggests eating 1-2 cookies a day and freeze the rest to keep them at optimal freshness. I pulled out 1 cookie a day from the freezer and let it thaw and it was a perfect treat to satisfy my sweet tooth while keeping up my milk production. I have not been eating the cookies long enough to see if my supply really has increased but at least I know that the ingredients are proven to increase supply so I can’t go wrong.

Now the ingredients are not unique, you can make your own cookies with the ingredients, take supplements or eat and drink (there are many lactation teas on the market) other foods with these key ingredients but who has the time to figure all that out. Milkmakers make it easy and yummy! If you are a working mom who is pumping and worried about milk supply, these are the perfect mid-morning/afternoon snack to take to work.

The major problem with Milkmakers is that the cookies are expensive. For 30 cookies (a 1 month supply) it is $49 or for a started pack of 10, you pay $19. One way to make life easier is Milkmakers offers a monthly subscription service where the cookies come to your door every month. This way you do not have to remember to order before you run out but you can also cancel the subscription at any time

Another minor problem is the caloric content (about 220-230 per cookie) but since you need extra calories while nursing then Milkmakers are the best way to make up for it.

If you love cookies and can afford the expense, Milkmakers are worth it! I am happy that I had the opportunity to try them, you should too!

* Note – Milkmakers are fenugreek free because:

  1. Many women do no like the side effects of fenugreek
  2. Many women all ready take fenugreek so Milkmakers did not want to add it and then it be too much fenugreek for one person
  3. Fenugreek is not safe for pregnant women and Milkmakers want the cookies to be okay for pregnant women to eat
