Graco 3-in-1 Nautilus Car Seat

The Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat is as versatile as the name implies. Initially it is a forward facing car seat for toddlers weighing over 20 lbs, then it becomes a high back booster seat and finally a backless booster seat for a child weighing up to 100 lbs. Due to the versatility and safety, the Nautilus is loved by most users.

Safety:

  • Excellent frontal crash protection
  • 5 point harness booster seat for a child up to 65 lbs
  • EPS energy absorbing foam
  • Protective deep side wings make it super safe and comfortable
  • Steel reinforced frame – ensures sturdiness

Extras:

  • Detachable and adjustable head support
  • Padded shoulder strap
  • Padded arm rests
  • Convenient cup holder
  • Side storage
  • Recline feature but is actually straight even after it is reclined
  • Machine washable seat cover
  • 10 pattern colors – all include light gray, gray, black, red

Most people agree that the Graco Nautlius is the perfect versatile car seat because of its long term use. You only need to buy one car seat after the infant car seat and it will last until your child no longer needs a booster seat.

Few negatives:

  • Large car seat so expect it to take a lot of space in your car
  • Can’t be used rear facing and technically the recommendation is for toddlers to remain rear facing until age 2
  • Straps can get twisted
  • Recline features does not really work
  • Heavy
Despite these few negatives, the Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat is still high rated because it is so versatile, extremely safe, made by a very reliable and loved company (Graco) and it is relatively cheap ($180) for the fact that it has long term use. I love the fact that the Nautilus has long term use but the one conundrum is that now the recommendation is for toddlers to remain rear facing until age 2. Since this car seat cannot be used rear facing and if your toddler outgrows the infant car seat then you will need to buy a rear facing car seat until you can use this one.
