Munchkins Fresh Foods Line

Disclosure: I received the Munchkin Fresh Foods products to facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.

For all 3 of my kids, I made their baby food at home but used what I all ready had except for a few small items. I never purchased any separate baby food maker. Now, so many great baby food making aids on the market, it is hard to not buy something to make your life easier. I had the opportunity to try out 3 great Fresh Food items by Munchkin: Fresh Food Chopper and Steamer, Fresh Food Grinder and Click Lock Fresh Food Freezer Trays. While my daughter is past pureed foods, it was fun to try out the Fresh Foods line with other foods that I made for my children.

Fresh Food Chopper and Steamer

  • 2-in-1 chops and steams quickly
  • Stainless steel cutting blade dices easily
  • Sliding lid converts from chopper to steamer for the microwave
  • Cleaning tool and dishwasher safe parts
  • Lid slides to airtight storage position so food stays fresh if you take a break after chopping
  • Includes 6 BPA free pieces: Chopper arm, stainless steel cutting blade, steamer and storage lid, 3-cup capacity steamer basket, base and cleaning tool

I found the Chopper and Steamer easy to use and it definitely steamed by carrots a lot faster than hand dicing and stove steaming. All I had to do was peel and cut the carrots into 2 inch portions then the chopper diced it. The chopper worked well – a little struggle to get it down on the carrots but it worked fine. The steaming time was a lot quicker than on the stove. What I really like is that the chopper can be used for anything beyond baby. I can cut veggies or fruits on it even if I do not need to steam them. The Chopper and Steamer is easy to clean…I had to use the included comb-like cleaning tool to get pieces out but it was easy. A perfect $20 purchase.

Fresh Food Grinder:

  • Hand grind so no batteries of electricity needed
  • Take on the go
  • Turns any food into baby food quickly
I do not need the Grinder for my daughter but I actually used it when I hid steamed corn to my son’s macaroni and cheese. They did not know I did it (not that they do not like vegetables but I figured why not make it healthier than just cheese and noodles). I put the corn in the Grinder and got mush. While the Grinder does not work amazing for all foods, it works great for others. It is a little tough to turn sometimes but that just means the food is not soft enough. A cheap alternative ($10) to a food processor or some other electrical mashing appliance.
  • 2 trays – each tray has 12 portions of 1 ounce each
  • Air-tight, Click Lock™ lids help prevent odor transfer and freezer burn
  • Stackable for easy freezer storage
  • BPA free and phthalate free
  • Top rack dishwasher safe
I actually had purchased the Munchkin Freezer Trays when my oldest son started solids. I loved it because I was able to make a ton of food ahead of time, freeze and take out 1 cube at a time. The 1 ounce portions are great for smaller babies but eventually I had to use more than 1 portion per meal. If you make extra, you need to freeze so why not the Munchkin Freezer Trays since they are easy to use, easy to clean and cheap ($10)
I am a fan of the affordable Munchkin Fresh Foods line. There are a few other products in the line besides the Chopper and Steamer, Grinder and Freezer Trays. When you start your baby on baby food, these products will make your life a littler easier (take it from me) without setting you back financially.
