In the American market for over 30 years, Medela is known as the largest manufacturer and seller of breast pumps. The Medela Freestyle is a great pump for those women who will be pumping multiple times a day at work or at home. The built in timer and memory button are unique and allows mom to be more efficient with their pumping, especially if their letdown is not the standard 2 minutes. The Freestyle is more technologically advanced in that it is all button controlled instead of a dial like the PIS. Finally, when on the go, the Freestyle runs on a rechargeable battery while the PIS runs on 8 AA batteries.

Overall the Freestyle and PIS are both great options and work well. The difference is if you are looking for a pump that allows you to lead your busy life (lightweight, portable, rechargeable, hands-free) then the Freestyle is the way to go but you will the pay the price for it (about $349 for the Freestyle vs $249 for the PIS).
