The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year – Book Review

Disclosure: I have received The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year book facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.

A few weeks ago I reviewed a fantastic book, The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy and Birth. After that review, I was contacted by Jennifer Bright Reich (author) and asked if I would like to review their other books. I happily said yes since I enjoyed the first one. The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year is like a new parents go-to bible for baby. As in the other book, this book is by the same authors, Rallie McAllister, MD, MPH and Jennifer Bright Reich, it has over 900 tips from over 70 doctors who are also mothers.

The book is divided into chapters going by age by month. The beginning part of each chapter covers baby’s milestones and developments they should reach at that age. The rest of the chapter are tips that are relevant to that age. The greatest thing about the book is that it covers every topic you can think of that baby will experience in the first year  – colic, co-sleeping, breastfeeding, bottle feeding, sleep training, solid foods, daycare, poop, vaccinations etc.  The topics are endless and the humor combined with anecdotes make you realize that there is no perfect way to raise your baby but there are tips and ideas that other moms/doctors have tried that may work to help you get through those baby challenges. A added perk for moms are the parts about weight loss, getting back into shape and finding time for yourself. Many of us can use any ideas to make those topics a reality.

The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year is the type of book you can give to a new mom when you visit her new baby. She will appreciate the easy read that will actually help her get through baby’s first year. First time moms have so many questions and this book gives them the answers they need. Available as paperback or e-book, it is an invaluable resource.
