Disclosure: I have received the Freshly Picked Moccasins to facilitate to my review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Almost 2 years ago, my son’s gymnastics coach told me about a baby/kid shoe company she discovered from a student’s parent. I immediately went home and looked it up and ever since then, I have been eyeing the shoes for a long time. Well as luck would have it, I was watching Shark Tank a while back and saw owner, Susan Peterson pitch her company Freshly Picked to the Sharks. Peterson struck a deal for her company, which makes hand-made moccasins for babies and toddlers. The Shark Tank episode was my sign that I finally had to have a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins for my daughter!
A little background, Peterson started making moccasins in 2009 when she could not find a pair, that she loved, for her son. After about 6 design changed, these soft soled shoes have been seen on the feet of celebrity children (see picture below) and on the feet of everyday children, such as my daughter. I had the exciting opportunity to try a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins for my daughter and I chose the Limited Edition Frosted Pink. The metallic is a fun twist compared to the same old baby pink or bright pink we see everywhere else.
These moccasins are made with a lot of love and care considering they are all hand-made and made of a durable leather or suede. The moccasins are so easy to put on and take off and they stay on feet due to the elastic at the opening of the shoe. They are available in sizes from 1-10. It may seem odd to put a toddler or older child in a soft soled moccasin but the greatest thing is that they can be worn around the house or just keep them as comfortable shoes, almost like socks, for your child.
When my daughter saw her pink shoes she squealed with delight. She loves shoes and she loves anything pink so once I showed them to her she had to put them on and would not take them off until we had to leave the house, 2 hours later. I chose a little bigger size (size 7) for my daughter, assuming she will fit into them by the summer/fall. If you are thinking that the moccasins can make your baby’s feet hot and sweaty, think again, because they have vents near the fringe to allow for air flow into the shoe. I think that once the moccasins fit my daughter, she will be asking to wear them daily because they are so “pretty pink.”
My only wish is if the price of the moccasin was a little lower but I know it is a handmade good. The moccasins are $60, which is steep but so worth it for how well they are made and how super stylish they are.
Thanks to Shark Tank deal and the brand growth Freshly Picked moccasins will eventually be available at retailers near you. Right now, you can find the perfect pair for your child on the Freshly Picked site.
Now for the good stuff, we have the ability to offer 1 lucky winner a pair of Freshly Picked moccasins in the color and size that they choose.
