It’s Dr. Seuss’s Birthday and Read Across America Day!

On this day, in 1904, Theodor Seuss Geisel aka Dr. Suess was born. Therefore, March 2nd has officially been dubbed as “Read Across America Day” by the National Education Association (NEA). If you really want to get into spirit of the day, read Oh, The Places You’ll Go, which is the book of the day. I love this book, it is so encouraging!

Since we have Dr. Seuss on the brain, I thought I would share the exciting news that was revealed last week. Apparently, Random House will publish and release What Pet Should I Get? on July 28, 2015. A completed but unpublished manuscript by Dr. Seuss was found by his widow in 2013. The book features the same brother and sister pair from One, Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Therefore, there is speculation that “What Pet Should I get” is a sequel to One Fish, Two Fish… How exciting to be able to explore a Dr. Suess book with our kids. It will be an adventure for parents and kids alike.  What Pet Should I Get? is available for pre-order now (Amazon, Barnes & Noble).

I decided to have fun by celebrating Dr. Suess so I made a special Dr. Suess inspired lunch for my kids.

Here is the Cat in the Hat pancake breakfast idea that I got from here. A few changes I made: I used bananas instead of whipped cream, I used thin slices of wheat bread for the whiskers, I changed the shape of eyes and I added the bowtie (one strawberry fell off the bowtie).
