“Gifted” Movie Review

Last week I saw the film Gifted by Fox Searchlight Pictures. You may not have heard of it yet because it does not come out until April 12, 2017 but once you read this review, you will be putting this movie on your “must see list”. Directed by Marc Webb and starring Chris Evans, Mckenna Grace, Lindsay Duncan, Jenny Slate and Octavia Spencer, Gifted is a heartwarming movie. There is a lot of sweetness in this film but also throw in the humor and sadness and you get a movie filled with emotion. I can’t give too much away about Gifted, but trust me as you see the trailers and hear more about it, you will want to see it. It is not an action filled movie, but it is definitely a charming one. Be warned, the film is rated PG-13 due to language and some suggestive elements. I took my children to see the movie and I thought it was okay for them but it definitely has a few parts that you may not feel comfortable with your children seeing.

Frank Adler (Chris Evans) is a single man raising a child prodigy – his spirited young niece Mary (Mckenna Grace) – in a coastal town in Florida. Frank’s plans for a normal school life for Mary are foiled when the 7-year-old’s mathematical abilities come to the attention of Frank’s formidable mother, Evelyn (Lindsay Duncan), whose plans for her granddaughter threaten to separate Frank and Mary.
